The Crazy Club in Norway
Welcome to Bryne FK — the club where Erling Braut Haaland started, where Man of the Match might win a lamb instead of a trophy, and where being different is simply part of who we are.
A Small Club with a Big Identity
We are Bryne FK — a small club from the west coast of Norway that has never believed in doing things the ordinary way. Football, for us, should have personality, humour and a bit of unpredictability. That spirit shapes everything we do, on and off the pitch.
This is the club where global superstar Erling Braut Haaland took his first steps in football — and where the Man of the Match might still leave with a lamb, eggs, a sack of potatoes or even an armful of firewood instead of a shiny trophy. Big talent can come from small places, and we are proud of ours.
We come from the farmlands of Jæren, where hard work matters more than glamour and authenticity beats perfection. Being called “the crazy club” is not about chaos — it is about creativity, confidence and staying true to who we are, even when most of the football world follows the same script.
Our roots are local, our mindset is bold, and fitting in has never been the goal.
Welcome to the crazy side of Norwegian football!
Our History and Merits
Bryne Football Club was founded in 1926 in the town of Bryne, located in Rogaland on Norway’s southwest coast. Originally established as a local football team, the club later became part of a multi-sport organization before returning to football only in 1991 under the name Bryne FK.
The club experienced its golden era in the late 1970s and 1980s, when it became one of Norway’s strongest teams. Bryne finished as league runners-up several times and reached European competitions during this period. The greatest achievement in the club’s history came in 1987, when Bryne won the Norwegian Cup, defeating SK Brann in the final.
Bryne FK is widely known for its strong youth development, most famously as the childhood club of Erling Haaland, one of the world’s leading footballers. The club plays its home matches at Bryne Stadium and continues to be an important symbol of football culture in the Jæren region.
